FAQs

What is Henna?

Henna (Lawsonia Inermis) is a flowering plant. The leaves of the Henna plant contain a natural and very effective coloring pigment: Lawsone. This Orange/Red dye releases as the leaves are crushed. Drying, milling, and sifting the Henna leaves into a fine powder maximizes the pigment (Lawsone) release.

What is the significance of Henna?

In India the "Ritual of Mehndi" is celebrated by the bride's family. The ritual is held one night before the wedding. It is looked at in the form of party or family gathering to enjoy the moments, wherein Henna is applied to the bride's hands and feet. Henna is considered auspicious, so it is applied to the bride and other female family members of the bride as a blessing to bring good luck in her married life.

What is Black henna?

Henna is NEVER Black! Black henna is mix of unlisted dyes and chemicals such as para-phenylenediamine (PPD), which can stain skin black quickly, but can cause lead poisoning, painful sores and permanent scarring. These ingredients are not FDA approved and really bad for your skin, lead poisoning, painful sores and permanent scarring. “Henna for all” ONLY uses certified organic natural henna powder and does NOT encourage the use of black henna.

What kind of henna do you use?

Henna for all only use 100% organic FDA approved henna powder, other ingredients are water, lemon juice, and sugar and high quality therapeutic grade essential oils. I make the mix fresh for all of my clients to ensure the best quality.

What is White henna?

Henna is never white!  'White henna' refers to a cosmetic grade body adhesive created for the attachment of body paint to skin. Despite what the name suggests, white henna does NOT contain any actual henna in it. White henna lasts for about 2-5 days only.

How long does the henna stain last?

Henna stains can lasts up to 2-4 weeks, depending on the after care. Pool water, salt water, doing dishes, washing hands frequently, scrubbing, exfoliating, waxing the skin will fade the henna faster than usual.

How can I get a darker stain/color?

Henna stains differently for everyone, it depends of several factors, like skin type, body heat, skin color, after care etc. However if the aftercare instructions are followed properly, it will ensure a nice deep dark burgundy color henna stain. Please read the aftercare instructions.
